  1. Anyways Ive made about 7 coasters now of dvdr a little pissed because they dont play right. Anyways it burns fine, no errors. I have to be encoding them right and everthing. Ive used ulead dvd movie maker and ulead dvd workshop, they still give me problems.

It burns the dvd just fine, untill i go to play it in my dvd player. The audio skips around and slows down, the video freezes and holds up the movie. Im getting frustrated trying to burn movies. I have no problem with vcd movies. And now the only thing i could think of is if its the media, if that could be causing the problem?

Currently im using Memorex 2.0, I've heard that the media might be the problem, just wanted to get soem other opions.

Just need some advise, it seems like ive read everything on how to convert and burn.

    Thanks

  2. I've also read that high bit rates of MPG2 can cause some problems in some DVD players. You may want to try to encode your MPGs using a lower bit rate. I've been using 2 pass VBR in TMPGEnc and the DVD disks play okay in my friends' machines. Hope this helps.

Ulead re-encodes the audio to PCM,it may be that your DVD player cannot handle DVD with PCM audio. Try SpruceUp it handles ac3 audio, the DVD standard. Spruce is available in the Tools section of this website.

Actually, the DVD standard is PCM, or Ac3, or Mp2 or DTS. All are acceptable audio formats. IIRC, north american players are required to support Ac3 and PCM. European players are required to support PCM and Mp2. However experience shows that MOST players support Ac3, PCM, Mp2 and many also DTS.

Basically, unless your audio is encoded wierdly, its unlikley to be the problem (IMHO anyway)and Ulead DVD WS does not always re-encode the audio to PCM, it can be set up to use mp2 or even Ac3 (at least 1.2 does).

It is most likley a media problem. Have you checked your player on the DVD players list? Does the movie play OK on your PC?

  5. I have this dvd player http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1060&Search=Search&#comments

It plays my svcd movies perfectly, not any problems. I have been using virtual dub to rip the audio off from the divx file. Ill try spuce up to see if that works. I also might lower the bitrate, that may work also. Has anyone else had bad luck with memorex dvdr? Just checking to see if that could also be the problem.

    Thanks guys for your help.

Ill hopefully get this stupid this working sooner or later.

  6. what type of DVD are you burning +R(W) or -R(W), coz the DVD players list does not have 1 user saying it plays -R(W) tho a few say OK with +R(W)

I suggest trying a friend's DVD player. If the problem still occurs then it may well be bad media. Many online places who sell media often sell cheap sample packs of 5 diffeernet discs or so - may be worth a try.

Does it play back ok in your PC? Try playing it in IFOedit as I have found that it closely simulates a DVDplayer and authoring errors become more apparent than when using a DVD player liekPowerDVD for example which seem to overcome problems that you DVD player wouldn't.

  8. I took my dvds to a friends house and the same thing happened. Played fine for a while, then about 30 mins into play it crapped out. I bought Memorex DVD-R mediea a 10 pack from best buy.

Also it plays like shit on my computer dvd player. I have seen people that have tried dvdr and they say it works, read far down. it should be there.

    thanks

It sounds more like a bad burn - but if you are using Movie Fact or Workshop then they have good burning engines so that makes it less likely.

I would say that it, unfortunately could be a faulty DVD Writer.
