  1. Im not sure if this is the correct spot to post, please forgive if it isnt

1st I tried to rip a love hina dvd(anime), which includes 4 episodes on it, only to find that they had encoded it as one entire stream, so the episodes overlapped VOB's, in other words the first VOB contained the entire first episode and a few minutes of the second episode, the second one had the rest of the second and the first half of the third and so on.

I could not work out a way to rip these straight from the DVD to seperate correct episodes, My work around was to rip it all, then use DVD2AVI to encode DivX movies and encode them as SVCD's which worked ok. My question though is there a way to rip the episodes seperately and accurately straight from the DVD in this situation? would save Me alot of time.

2nd I have tried to rip the Robocop movie from DVD, there are 3 streams available, 2 of them are incompete and one has a few scenes at the very start before the movie actually starts. The DVD has directoros cut and original movie, I suspect this is the cause of the problem, however I cant seem to rip the movie in the correct order. Once again the only workaround I can think of is some creative editing using DVD2AVI and an AVI editor. This I feel wil take some time, does anyone have any ideas about how to work this one out?

I am using PAL in region 4, the love hina is 4:3 the Robocop is in 16:9, not sure if this info will help or not.

If you have read this far thank you very much for your time, and i hope you can help me

    thanks again

  2. I would think your 1st problem would easily be solved by selecting just the chapter(s) you need when ripping.

question would then be is there a way to see which chapters i need to rip , or is it trial and error?

  4. What I do it pop it in my standalone DVD player and what the display (it shows what title/chapter its playing). You can probably do this on your pc with a software player too.

  5. if you use flaskmpeg, you can choose which version (theatrical or director's cut) you want to encode and then frameserve it into tmpgenc....(no dvd2avi)

this also adds subs too if u want

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdtovcdflask.htm

you get to choose which angle you want (theatrical or director's cut) under the top heading of "DVD Titles"....i'm guessing the longer length one is the director's cut

note: be sure to rip the vobs using file mode w/ ifo file, NOT movie mode....flaskmpeg needs the complete vobs as they are, no modifications that movie mode will make to it
