    I heard that if you want subtitles, you have to encode the movie with TMPGEnc first which takes atleast about 8 hours..then, to put subtitles on the movie, you have to REencode it with TMPGEnc which take another 8 hours ? is this true?

    The question migth be simple, but the answer may be harder - More details please! What is your source material? What do you want as end result?

  4. there's no re-recording necessary...just some extra (or different) programs along the way...

    1) add vobsub/vdub to smartripper->dvd2avi->vobsub/vdub->tmpgenc

    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/subtitle_guide.htm

    2) replace dvd2avi w/ flaskmpeg in smartripper->flaskmpeg->tmpgenc
