  1. Hi,

    A junior question.

Can I append more tracks on a writen dvd+r/w disk? of course, the disk is not full.

If yes. Can this kind multi-sesion disk be played on a player?

    Thanks a lot!

  2. Supposedly yes. It depends on the software for authoring and the burning software.

What I'm not sure is that authoring a DVD means making links to menus and their clips. So how can you throw in an additional clip without doing more menu buttons and associating their links? Maybe this is possible with a DVD+R setop recorder but I don't think so yet on PC recordable DVD. The future DVD+R/+RW - VR probably will.

I think when they talk about appending they mean writing movies or songs or data when the DVD is formatted as DVD-data not DVD-video. That means that it would be read by a computer not a DVD player. I could be wrong since I have not seen a software program that allows you to append an authored DVD-video. Maybe I have one but have not seen it.

I do burn MP3 ,programs, video to a Data DVD without closing it so I can append at any time (multisession).

All my comments are in reference to DVD+R or DVD+RW, for DVD-R/-RW I believe you must erase the whole disc (DVD-R you are out of luck). This is the advantage of the + format. An additional future capability of DVD+R/+RW is DVD-VR allowing you to edit directly on the disc

Do a search for DVD+R drives and check these links:

The most preferred DVD Authoring tools are Ulead DVD Workshop, ReelDVD(expensive), Spruce Maestro(discontinued), Sonic DVDit PE 2.5

for actual burning of the DVD: Ulead Workshop, Nero 5.5.9.0 or 5.5.9.14
    VOB Instant CD/DVD

for writing DVD-Data: Nero is very good.
