  2. chances are you will need to re-encode these episodes to reduce their size. ReMPEG, TMPGEnc and CCEare some of the most popular tools usedf for this purpose. If you visit the how to section on the left you will find many great guides to get you started.

You might consider putting three episodes on a DVD-R,and use two DVD-R's. That way you will maintain the original quality and the process will be much faster.

I put 6 STTNG on one dvdr by encoding with tmpenc using the low res dvd template (352x288 mpeg1 1850 kbs). Authored the episodes with spruceup with a basic menu. The quality wasnt astounding, a bit better than vcd. I elected to forgo the ac3 audio for simplicity.

I've been author TNG episodes 4 per DVD-R at 720x480,3100 average bitrate,ac3 sound. There very close to original DVD quality. I don't really see the point in authoring a DVD to VCD quality. I use Spruce and preserving the ac3 is easy.

Yes,I associated each episode with a button in the menu. I also used the opening sequence from the DVD as a first play and captured some of the DVD's menus to ..bmp files and used them as backrounds in SpruceUp.

Yes I could'nt agree more, I was trying to do it on the cheap as the media I'm using is ~$AU10 each............I failed . My next attempt will be closer to your setting. I'm using the AC3 audio stream on other projects and so will do the same on my next multi-episode dvdr.
