Hello. I've searched everywhere, but have yet to come up with any real or any easy solution for this. I want to get 2 segmented mpeg-1 (mpg) files into Virtual Dub. With AVI files, you could just load one and then use the menu option 'append avi segment'. When opening the first mpg file, append avi segment is grayed out. So currently I have to open 4 seperate VDub windows, frameserv 4 seperate times to TMPGEnc, and then merge. Quite a hassle!

So now I don't know how I should proceed. Every day I have at least one mpg file (a single capture) that is broken into several parts (4 GB file limitation). Upgrading my OS is not an option. I just want some way to have each segment all loaded into the VDub timeline one after another for editing. Please if there is any easy way to get all of the .mpg files into Virtual Dub with audio in sync, show me how?

    Thanks!

  2. I assume these are non compliant mpeg files that you are reencoding. Why are you frameserving them from vdub. Why not just batch encode them in tmpgenc.

I have to load them in Virtual Dub first, to edit them. I need to cut several segments out of them, and the goal is to then stream the complete video (minus the edits) to TMPGEnc for final encoding.

So does anyone know of a way?

  4. So do you just need to edit them not reencode. If so use the merge and cut tools in TMPGEnc.

Thanks but that won't work. They are MPEG-1 files that need to be EDITED. Then they are converted to MPEG-2 files.

There are literally dozens at a time. Each file needs about 5-6 edits in each. TMPGEnc 'Merge & Cut' can only cut 1 segment at a time while Virtual Dub can cut them all in one pass.
