My Philips 701(hacked for multi-region, and purchased in Europe) will not read any svcd discs. I have encoded the discs using tmpgenc and tried burning them using both nero and vcd easy. VCDs using the same method work fine, although not SVCD's. Is this a problems stemming from the hack, from the encoding software or from the program I am using to burn the disc's themselves? There really seem's to be no logic to it not working . . . please help!
Grazie

Seems people have had various levels of succes with this player -
Had a look before I posted, still nothing there seems to pertain to my problem. My encoding seems to work a treat . . .
ANy other possible explanations? -
Well from my quick glance at the posts, it seems some people can get SVCD's to play OK whilst others had no success. Maybe its a firmware issue in which case there is probably little you can do. Have you tried the "vcd header trick" on your SVCd's. If you don't know what that is just search the forums for info.
