Appologies in advanced. This bitrate lark does my nut in. So any help would be much appriciated!
I`ve got a film thats nearly 78 minutes long (4667 seconds) and the DVD2SVCD bitrate tab says upto 76 mins is one cd and over 76 is two cds.
Am I better off doing this as a 1 cd svcd?
And if so how can do I go about encoding it to a 1 disc SVCD?

Hm..ok
First question: If I were you, I'll go for 2 cds svcd. You're worst off with 1 cd svcd. With 78 minutes of mpeg2 encoded video and fit that on 80 minute cd will give you about 1100 kb/s, which is pretty crappy.
Second question: If you really want to fit the movie on 1 cd, then you just have to change the default minutes to whatever. (eg. like in your case, 76 to 78 minutes)
Hope that helps. -
Slice off the beginning and end. that should save you the 2 mins.

The easist way to use the DVD2SVCD bitrate window is to enter the number of discs you want in ALL the windows, and set the size to whatever media you are using in ALL the windows.
This was you'll get the right number of discs/file size no matter what your runtime is. -
Thats interesting. I decided to do it 2x80mins cdrs. When it finished it gave me a 795mb bin and a 560mb bin!
Now if i say I`d like to use two 80min cdrs how come its not upping the bitrate so it uses the discs to their full capacity?
Instead I now have one disk with 1hour of video and 17 mins on the other! Its neigh on dvd quality, but surely it should raise the bitrate effectively, not waste 240mb? -
Hmm 60mins / 800 =13.3 mbs per minute
17min/600 = 35 mbs per minute!!
something a bit wrong there!
