I kida know how to capture vhs to avi using virual dub. I kinda know how to save as a vcd, but I really need someone to help me organize this knowledge into something useful
How should I take a VHS tape of home movies and put it on VCD? What the best way?

well first you need a capture card -- http://www.vcdhelp.com/capture
then you convert it to vcd http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert
you will probobly also what to edit the capture first before encoding to vcd http://www.vcdhelp.com/edit -
Or buy a standalone VCD recorder. THe Terapin will do vhs -> vcd

i saw standalone panasonic dvd recorders for sale now at 500$ ... that option certainly is worth looking into as the poster above suggested.
