  1. My question is in regards to these two selections of media:

    Ritek DVD-R 4.7GB, General, 100-Pack ($83.00)
    http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1611&C...tegory_Code=GU

    TDK 2X DVD-R Discs for General Use 4.7 GB - 4.7GB Bulk w/cake box 50 Pack by tdk ($119.50)
    http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=28&cata=&s_cata=

Is TDK that much better that the price difference could be justified? The Ritek is almost $40 cheaper for 50 more disks. I have the Panasonic E30 and am looking for reasonably priced media that is reliable. I don't mind paying the extra for TDK, but is it worth it? Or any other suggestions for media in this price range?

    Thanks for any help.

Shawmic: You might want to try one or two of each media before buying spindles. While better media typically plays in more dvd players, I've heard of people having better luck with cheapo discs in certain (presumably rare) circumstances. The dvdr media link on the left may have some feedback but I've never used ritek so I can't say for sure.

Kennyshin: considering half of those links are already bad, and the others are in japanese... do you want to provide any acutal information such as a synopsis of what you found relevant in those links?

  3. I've been using the Ritek DVD-R's in my DMR-E30 for a few weeks now (burned about 30 discs) and they seem to be decent. The play in my Pioneer DVD player and several other players of people that I've given discs to. They do not work in my Apex 600, my PS2, or in the Initial portable DVD player that I bought (and returned). The machines that they do not work in seem to be a result of the machines themselves and not the discs.
