  1. I have a problem playing vcds... whenever i put in the vcd, it says "vcd" on the screen and i press play and it says "PBC PLAY"--I hear the cd spin up like its playing but i get no picture and no sound.. just that blue "dvd player" screen that says play on it..

  3. As one having the Pioneer DV-525, I find it really strange that there is a media it will not play, especialy if it identified the contents, have you tried making a copy and playing the copy ?
Did you try checking to see if the VCD disc follows standards ?

Either something is wrong with the encode or the laser is dirty. My dad has the DV-525 and I've thrown VCD/SVCD/XVCD at it without any problems.

  6. I have the 525 and have had the exact same problem... It was with a spool of unbranded silver one side and really light green on the other 80 min CDR's ...

it is the media.. the 525 just doesnt like reading in MODE2 from that colour..

darker ones work ok.. even just a tinge darker

  8. DeathMonk, nither do VCD's or SVCD's use MP3 as an Audio Track, so if you had such a mix, it would defenetly not work, technicly the 525 can play just about any VCD/SVCD even non-standard ones.

  10. Well, I went to Circuit City and tried the same vcds on about 6 different dvd players, and it didnt work... so the only thing it could b is the black cdrs or the way the vcds were made... here is the dir structure and files within if that helps..

  11. Your VCD looks like a standard VCD with 3 video chapters, looks like it was made with WinOnCD if i'm not mistaken, technicly it should have worked on all CDR/VCD compatible DVD players, but if you say it was not played on 6 diffrent models, i'd seriously consider checking what is wrong with those CDR's.
