sony dru500a help

Is there any burning software out there (other than the mydvd and record now that was included) that will recognize the drive?

Also, where can I get the download for the veritas for the record now once the update does indeed come out. Is there any word on what that update will provide?

BZZT ! Nero 5.5.9.14 does NOT support the DRU500a .. it will "sort" of work with some disc types but the drive is not yet supported by nero .. can't speak for easy cd ..

try uninstalling Nero 5.5.9.14 and then reinstalling it, I have been able to burn cds and dvds with no problems with my sony dru500a using Nero 5.5.9.14

nope even nero says its unsupported .. it will do some dvd-r's ok and no problem with cd's but it will cough on dvd+r's and the dvd-r's it makes seem to have more native dvd player problems then the same media on other dvd software.

I am not sure what is going on with your copy of Nero, I have burned dvd-r and dvd+r's with no problems using my new Sony DRU500A....honest. I did have to reinstall Nero after I put the new dvd burner in my pc tower, then Nero had no problems using my new burner. I also know that Nero says it doesnt support it, but my copy of Nero had no problems finding my Sony after the reinstall.

The sony Drives speciffically don't support some types of media i forget the ones it doesn't for sure... but nero 5.x.x.14 definatly supports the 500a and also lists the name at the bottom no problem... I've burned a ton of things so far with it and nero. And by reading some of the DRU500a posts in the Writers section of the forum you'll see what media does and doesn't work in it

No .. nero does not support the 500a Yes it will _work_ with it and some media. But it does not support it, ask Ahead's TS or consult their supported drives list. Displaying the name of the writer isn't the same as working with it

I can't wait for a year to go by and media quality to get better this media war sucks .. even if you have a good format who knows if the media is any good .. this stuff is to expensive to not work.
