  1. Hi,

I can framserve from VirtualDub to TMPEnc no problem, but I'd ideally like to take my source AVI and break it up into 10 separate AVI's then frameserve each of them (to produce individual Mpegs) as a batch, i.e. in one go (overnight run).

I had a look at VirtualDub but it's not leaping out at me how to go about this. Any ideas? or should I look at doing the split after the Mpeg conversion.

    Cheers.

    Ian.

  2. Not sure how to easily break the avi up into 10 avi's, but you could use the SOURCE filter on TMPEG to set the source range of each of the mpegs you want to produce. For example, one project would go from frame 1-1000, the next from 1001-2000, then 2001-3000, etc. Add each project to the batch list, then execute them when your ready. You can even exit out of vdub. You'll just need to start the frameserver before you execute the batch jobs.

  3. Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I have the AVI's broken up (courtesy of VirtualDub), it's the batch frameserving that's got me. I've had a look and I don't think it's possible (my limited knowledge).

Can't use defer coz it's not a SAVE as such, you have to start the frameserver with the particular AVI that's loaded.

There would have to be a way to defer the frameserving and then have them run consecutively......and then you'd need to have TMPGEnc start a new file automatically as each frameserv starts.

PS. The AVI's are broken up at specific points in the actual video.

    Hmmmmmmm!

The only way is to start the Vdub frameserver several times. Then you can create a TMPGEnc batchlist.
Vdub's batch processing (job control) does not work with the frameserver.
You may consider to frameserve with Avisynth instead.

Since the AVIs are already broken up, why not use TMPGEnc's batch process to work all night for you while you sleep?
    Hello.
