I have 2 questions. I have a movie with great picture and ok sound except a background noise, I think a hissing noise. Can this be removed and without damaging the remaining sound?
2nd question I have a movie in mpeg2, converting to dvd compliant mpeg2. the movies is in 2 parts, can they be joined together or is there a way to make it so that when played on dvd player that it goes from part1 to part2 without user intervention?
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thank you.

hissing or high freq sound is generally easy to remove and easier than some other types of noise ..
you will need one of the following programs:
cooledit
soundforge
goldwave
wavelab
or just about any audio editing app
just load the audio (in programs like soundforge you you can load the whole avi or mpeg file) and select a proccess know as varously parametric eq or noise reducer or dynamic eq or failing any of those just the eq ..
often you will find a preset named reduce hiss or reduce HF .. basicly if you dont find such a preset is that you will need to reduce the amount of HF above 9000 - 18000 by as much as 12-14 dB ... a good sarting point is to add a high shelf filter starting at 9000Hz and set to -8dB .. keep going down from there and picking also a higher freq if you can till the hiss goes away ..
