Hi there, i have a few film ranging(size) from: 700mb to 680mb.
The problems here:
a) i bought a few 700mb size CD-R, but after formatting it ... it reduce to 670mb, thus i could not d/l the film.
b)I insert another new 700mb CD-R, but this time i close my Easy Creator 5 Plantium Windows (always open up when i insert a new Blank CD-R) and go straight to the drive (which store my CD-Writer) and check the disc size but it still says 670mb or show nothing at all.
c) Never mind, but i managed to find and bought home some CD-R size: 870mb .. thought everything should be settle .. but when i insert the disc and format the disc, i saw that it left with 670mb disc size. I insert another new disc in and same like (b), close my Easy CD Creator5 but the size is still the same ..
So what is wrong with it, check in the net ... some says that maybe my CD-Writer or software could not accept it and ask me to check on both of their specification.
but i could not find it. i am using :
CD-Writer = Hp 9100 series 8x4x32
Software: Easy CD Creator 5 Plantium

I have your same CD writer so it could be the burning software.
Try Nero...I use this and it works fine. -
i thought of trying to use NERO but come across a topic in the net (not this forum) that it clashes with Easy CD Creator and thus causing some or all of the ECDC function.
don't know it is true or not ... -
I had easy cd creator too...I uninstalled it and then
installed nero. Nero is much more stable and has
a lot more options. try it out...... -
jus1312,
If you have DirectCd installed, try removing or disabling it. I know for CD-RW's, there is an option to format it with direct cd, and it takes quite a bit of space.
Just try removing that and Easy cd creator, install nero and see how it goes...

CD's of lengths greater than 80 minutes cannot be burned with Easy CD Creator, since it does not support overburning. 90 and 99 minute CD-R's will show the last address before leadout as 79:59:74, due to a limitation of the CD addressing system. The remaining 10-20 minutes is technically overburned. Thus, Easy CD Creator "thinks" these are 80 minute discs, and since you can't overburn anyway, you will be limited to 80 minutes. Get rid of ECDC and get some real software, such as Nero.

As Xsost mentioned, DirectCD is your problem. Using DirectCD (or other like programs) adds overhead to the disk (which they try to make up for with compression). You will never get the full capacity when storing a previously compressed file (such as MPEG). Burn to the disc as a standard data disc with your favorite buring software.
