I can't play or convert any avi files because I don't have a software codec to play them back. Checked the ATI site, and there is no codec for winXP for the Rage LT Pro. My laptop is 2 years old now (but still fast enough) and was originally shipped with win98, and it looks like ATI/MS could not be bothered porting the codec for winXP. The MS knowledge base artical Q278947 looks similar to the problem I have, but is for a different ATI card. Any idea where I can download one from?

MaiChai,
If your referring to the old Ati vcr1/vcr2 codecs ATI does have an article in their knowlege base: http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/2366.html
If you look towards the bottom of the article you will find they do supply a link for downloading these older codecs, but you use these at your own risk.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack
