  1. I have an avi file that I want to make into a vcd, but the video is at 14.985 fps and tmpgenc wont pick up the picture! I get an mpeg with sound but no pic! I tried changing the framerate (to 29.97) with virtualdub (and a few others) and resyncing audio with soundforge but I end up with an mpeg that plays and sounds 2X faster than it should. Is there any way to convert the file without screwing up the playback?

  2. Ok, the above question still stands but I think I've found somekind of solution. I think I figuerd out that tmpgenc & xing weren't picking up the video because it's an unsupported format (M$ mpeg-4 v3). So I used virtualdub to convert it to another format, loaded it into xing mpeg encoder, chose "vcd->ntsc", loaded the avi file created from VD, and it encoded an mpeg file fine. But I didn't change the frame rate in any program. What I'm not sure is if this mpeg is vcd compliant. I dont want to burn a coaster and still have to figure out a way to convert the movie. Any help?

  5. It sounds like you've tried this, but you never went out and said it, so..

TMPGE *won't* decode MPEG4/DIVX files, so if you can get it into a basic AVI file in VDub or another program, you can try loading that file back into TMPGE and converting it back to the FPS that you're looking for.

  6. I guess I did forget to say that I already tried that, sorry. When it finaly loaded up and i changed the f/r my mpeg was 2x faster than it shouldve been. If I just load the compatible avi (but with the original 14.985 fps) in with the ntsc vcd template and let it go will the resulting mpeg be ok for a vcd?

  7. YOU HAVE TO GO TO OPTIONS IN TMPEG,GO TO ENVIROMENTAL SETTINGS.THEN GO TO PLUGINS,RAISE THE PRIORITY OF AVI2 TO 3,THENAVIVFW TO 4.
