For those who haven't realised, KingJohn appears to be no longer with us. It appears that he threw a temper tantrum after not being able to handle some constructive criticisms to his guides and closed them all and sent them off to "Closed" (i.e., not truly deleted)
Although I'm indifferent to the fact that he is no longer a moderator here, I thought that those guides were reasonably good and that along with the contributions from other members to those threads that they were a good resource.
I think that they should be moved back to "User Guides".
Baldrick?

i can't say that i'm sorry to see him go.
king john was definatly NOT moderator material.
he will probably be back once he cools down. -
I agree with Michael - the guides were well written and useful. His answers to posts were in general constructive. They should be moved back & we should ask him to come back with the caveat to ignore the a**holes.

It was nothing wrong at all with his guides and he did a great work moderating and helped a lot of members even though it sometimes were some conflicts. But isn't that what a forum is about, different opinions...and now has tenders noone to argue with...
But I'm not going to move back his guides, he decided to remove them and I will only move them back if he wants that. -
I understand and respect your position Baldrick.
However, consider that no ordinary member can remove whole threads. Sure they can edit their posts, but they can't delete threads that contain information posted (published) by other members.
I'm sure you'd agree, that from a moderator's perspective, those threads were good and in no way "deserved" to be deleted.
I consider the deletion of those threads to be an abuse of mod powers.

For instance, there is absolutely no reason why this thread: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=117640&highlight=
... should be locked OR deleted. This thread wasn't even originally authored by KingJohn and the only reason I can see that he deleted it was that he couldn't accept opinions contrary to his own.

Maybe not that topic, but the guides that he also edited and removed the text I won't move back.

You should think before you posted something like that.
Yes I'm sorry that he's gone but that his decision. To me, it seems like he doesnt want anyone to have different opinions than his. I come here just to gain some knowladge and also to share some of mine which I know might not be as good as his or your.
Frankly speaking, I've never seen mods delete posts just becuz someone argue with them and cannot accept the fact that they're wrong. I'm sure this is not such a good manner for mods. I know this is not fair to him to talk when he cannot respond but I just want to point to all you mods. Do not abuse the system just becuz you have the power.
I hope this will not be my last post!!! -
No moderator is god...I am.
ya_jai: I wont discuss kingjohn anymore. I agree that no moderator or admin should not just lock or remove topics just because he/she is a moderator and for example don't want other opinions. But I and all other moderators don't have time to read everything so please let me or another moderator know if you or anyone find moderators or admins not following those "rules".....hmm...i dont understand what I just wrote...maybe you will... -
Let us all calm down and reflect a moment............................................
ahhh that's better.
Now back to our regularly scheduled flame war. -
