I was happily backing up DVD-movies with CloneAD XP (http://www.clonead.co.uk/) until I changed my motherboard/cpu (from Soyo Dragon Plus/Athlon TBird 1.4 to Abit IT7 max2 / P4 1.8A). Suddenly, CLAD will not even start up anymore. As soon as it loads and detects the disc in the drive, it crashes and closes.
Smartripper 2.41 randomly crashed as well (meaning : it would crash with certain discs, but not with others). I originally switched from Smartripper to CLAD, because it was able to copy ANY dvd I threw at it.

I have now upgraded the firmware on my Pioneer DVR-104 from 1.30 to 1.32. Smartripper works again, but CLAD still crashes. Any ideas anyone?

Apologies if the Moderator feels this belongs in a software-related forum instead.

    thanks.

  2. 2 different types of architecture and you didn't Format your HD and reinstall the OS and all of your programs?

You're asking for trouble and you got it. I'll bet you if you format and reinstall, all of your issues will go away.

Thanks, but that's not really an option, with 80 gigs worth of apps or so.

I did run the OS install disk and ran the repair utility, which is almost the same as doing a fresh install. Everything else works fine now (including other burning/copying apps, like CloneCD, Nero, Fireburner, CDRwin, Gear Pro DVD, TMPGenc, DVD2AVI, Spruce, etc, etc, etc...)

The only other thng I can think of is to reinstall your ASPI layer.

  5. Why do you want to format and reinstall the OS so much, Burner27. Don't you realize that most people can't do that or it will be alot of work. The good computer user would try to fix the issue with out having to reinstall the OS.

I reinstalled the latest ASPI (linked from the clonead.co.uk website) and CLAD works fine once again.

Thank you all for your input.
