cornetet,
Are you asking a question or what? Frankly I do DivX encodes all the time and my results have been spectacular. Obviously your encoding methods are flawed and you need to do a little more research before you come into this forum and make such a ridiculous statement.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

cornetet,
Were talking apples and oranges here. Yeah if you want universal playback on stand-alone players MPEG-2 is the way to go. For archiving purposes DivX is the way to go. If you encode properly you can get almost DVD quality at a much reduced file size by almost by a factor of 4. Now some still say the best DivX codec is the 3.11 alpha, but I've been using the DivX 5.02 Pro codec and achieving pretty much the same results.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

cornetet,
If you going to keep going back and re-editing your original posts to try and make me look like an ******* your sadly mistaken. I don't have to argue this point with you since I've got the results to back up my claim which sadly you obviously can't. I'm not going to sit here and argue with a newbie with no experience and no talent. As far as I'm concerned this topic is closed.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

I don't understand why you don't like DivX. I get excellent results. I must say i prefer it to VCD format. The only thing that keeps me experimenting with VCD is because VCDs can be read in any DVD player while DivX's can't.
Get DIVx 5 bundle from the net. It's free. Use it's encoder and player.
Get DVDx to rip and encode your DVDs to HDD in .divx format (you have to select DIVx codec).
Both programs are free and you can download them from the net.
It'll encode your DVDs in approx. 6-7 hours (at least id does on my system, and my PII500 is not champion of speedIf you have P4 it'll be much faster.
I like the results. It's not DVD, ofcourse, but it's pretty good.

Make sure you quote the post to which you refer instead of just replying to it. That way, if they delete their post, it's still quoted in yours, which keeps your comments in context.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

SLBOSS926, you bought a Celeron Processor and your re-encoding video? You are an Idiot. (like your tagline says...)
As for the rest of you... you're like a gang of "holier-than-thous" waiting to pounce on thoughts outside your own.
Intelligent, closed-minded people with attitude suck.
I have taken down all my posts and going to doom9.com from now on.
Hell, do me a favor and report me to the Forum Moderator and get me removed from this loser forum.
I hope everyone got their jollies-off feeling superior. Everyone can return to their rat-holes now.
