HI !
I used TMPGEnc to make an .mpg file and it all seems to work fine on computer , but when I burn it into VCD to watch my stand alone dvd- player, about 5 cm of the picture that would normaly be on the left side goes to right( but it still is like fullscreen) and when I´m trying to fast forward it, the picture goes all messy... I Use Nero to burn with 4x...
When Nero has read the file there comes the error message this video is..... what would you like to do ....
1.Turn off the .....
2.Reencode the file
3.Cancel
I usually take number 1. and it´s usually worked but not anymore
I just recently found this problem with some of the files. Would this be an encoding problem , media or burning problem..
Thank You !!

Intersting... Since it looks good on the computer the encoding is alright I guess. The first thing the comes to my mind would be a hardware problem, the DVD player reads it all weird. But then again, since this is only about some files... your DVD player is probably okay. I once encoded a file which looked okay on the PC and then when i burned it, everything was upside down.. (noone answered on this forum about that problem by the way) But that never happened again.
3 suggestions:
1. Check to see if the VCD or SVCD you burned REALLY is a VCD Standard... I often forgot the Audio in the beginning. I mean... was the MPEG really right? The computer does'nt care about VCD standas, it plays everything. This way of seeing it would be an encoding problem in combination with a really crabby DVD player. DO NOT LET NERO CONVERT!!! I always USE TMPGenc and sometimes CCE.
2. Is it a PAL or NTSC movie? Does you TV support PAL or NTSC or BOTH, if not... werid things can happen.
3. I have no idea what I'm talking about
Helped?
Thanx/

HI !
I was just wondering that do I need to rename the file to mpg. after TMPGEnc has encoded it, because sometimes I forget that and another thing is that can the encoding process go wrong if I do something else with my pc at the same time..
I do have both NTCS and PAL playback on my TV.. -
renaming is not nessesarry... but yeah the file that you burn needs to be a mpg or mpeg file. what have been forced to rename from? I mean you need to do that youself? If you have a fiel after the encoding that's not called mpg or mpeg, I bet it's nit a valid file. Tell me exactly how you are doing that whole process.
You can do whatever you want to do on your computer at the same time. The encoded file will not be affected. the only thing that might happen is that TMPGenc freezes and you loose the encoding time and needs to redo that whole thing again, but that's anyoing enough to not do much else on the computer, I usually leaves it running when I'm at work or when I sleep. It encodes faster if you're not doing anything else!
Thanx/
