  1. I followed the directions from this tutorial: (http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdmoviefactory.htm) Everything worked and all but it will not play in my DVD player. When I go to My Computer to see if it worked, it doesn't recognize the CD.

But the DVD-R has been written on though.

I want to know if there is any better and more efficient way of burning a DVD and which program is the best.

    Thanks

    You mean DVD, right?

Things to be aware of: Bad media causes a lot of problems. Also it may have been the burning that caused the problem. The common way of authoring is to author a title set (so you can view the files on your computer before burning to ensure that it was authored ok) then burn using a burning program, not the authoring program. If the files are ok before you burn, but the disc isn't recognised, you have a problem with your burner (or the media) because no matter how the disc was authored, the disc should be readable in the computer if it was burned ok.

    I have a Pioneer DV-L301C.

Thorn - I get what you're saying but what program do I use to burn? I have Ulead's DVD Workshop. That authoring program burns as well

I use Nero to burn everything. You can get a demo at www.nero.com

Before you worry about that, do try previewing the compiled title set (ulead lets you compile to a title set without burning, right?) and test it with windvd or similar dvd software (I think you can get trials for those as well).

  7. I have Nero. And I can get WinDVD in a second.

When the compiled test thing comes up, I can't save that, can I?

I don't know about workshop, but in moviefactory you have an output options page where you can check "create dvd folders" and uncheck "record to cd". Then you'd get the folders on your HD but no burned disc.

  9. I was downloading WorkShop but I stopped it since MovieFactory finished.

    I guess I'll have to re-d/l it
