  1. Can anyone answer a question regarding VCD playback/compatibility on a JVC DVD player? I have been using "Sefy's" guide to creating VCD's. The process has worked extremely smooth however, while I can play back my VCD files (MPEG-1 and MPEG-2) on my PC (ATI file player), I cannot do so on my DVD/VCD player. Is there a way around this through encoding or is it a hardware compatibility problem with my DVD player?

Have you checked the dvd players list for cd-r/cd-rw/vcd/svcd compatibilitty for you player?

You can also test to burn our vcd samples and see if they works. http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcd.htm#samples.htm

  3. Yes. Unfortunately, my JVC model cannot play DVD ROM/RAM/Audio/R/RW or CD R/RW/ROM. Essentially, it cannot play burnt material. Being new to video capture and creating video CD's, I did not factor this in when I purchased my unit. It is a great player otherwise. I'm simply trying to find a way around this dilemma before I think about buying a new unit. The database indicated a user was able to play audio on a Pacific Digital CDRW. If so, maybe there is some hope. Thanks for your help.

  4. I forgot to mention that I purchased a VCD in Malaysia last year. Aside from the fair quality, my unit was able to play with no problem. I suspect that this VCD was a "copy" which again indicates to me that the JVC may be able to play certain types of burnt media.
