  1. Ok, I've been encoding DVD rips with TMPGenc recently, but there's something I can't figure out. I've never been able to edit the bitrate and such. It's always greyed out even when I click that Expert thing. Aren't you supposed to be able to raise that for better quality or somethin?

Reason I'm asking is... I encoded one movie and it looked ok when played full screen in WMP, but the next one I encoded looked a little shitty. ...first movie looked real bad when I used DVDx to make it DivX 4 instead of TMPGenc. lol

  2. Start up TMPGENC, skip the wizard.

Load a VCD Templete, load unlock in the extra folder.

Now change to 2pass varible bitrate.

Save the Temple with a name like: VB_VCD(ntsc).
Restart tmpgenc and now choose this new templete.

Now can set: 1000 avarge, 1150max and 300 minimum.

If you DVD player can handle XVCD you can increase these numbers.

Unless you set System>Stream type = MPEG-1 Video CD(non-standard) your settings will be over-ridden and you will end up with a standard VCD!!!

  5. I decided to try MPEG-2. Looks great, but it's like 2GB. I'm thinking about converting it to DivX. lol

  6. If it as 1hour movie and it turned out at 2GB then
you used to high of a setting. (nearly DVD settings)

1150 avarge bitrate and one hour would be around 700mb.
    (e.g that is VCD standard)
