Can't play CD-R on my Sharp dv-700s

Is there a way to make my sharp dv-700s be able to play (home)burned audio CD and VCD?

I've checked the compatibility list and there is a guy who can play CD-R

Have you tested it yourself. If it doesn`t then It doesn`t I`m afraid. Almost all DVD players will play VCDs. But Some don`t play CDRs, some of the reasons can be with them being equipped with only 1 lazor. Maybe a Certain Brand of CDRs might play, but finding that brand might be like finding a needle in a haystack. Don`t go for what 1 person may have said. Test it for yourself. But like I said before, there probably won`t be anything you can do about it, to get it to play a CDR, as it will not be software in the player stopping it, just plain old Mechanics.
