  1. Thank to everyone how looks at this.

    My question is how do you guys add subtitles to your movies? Do all you create the subtitle files or do you guys download 'em? I wanna know how to create subtitles files and also whats teh difference between permanent subtitiles and non-permanenet subtitles? i keep seeing it all over the place and i dont know what the differences are. Another question is, is it possible to add subtitles to an mpeg-2 file? i ask becuase if i can i wont have to worry about re-encoding the movie again. If I left anthing crucial out on adding subtitles please let me know. I would appreciate any kind of help.

    Thanks in advance

    The difference between Permanent and selectable subtitles:
    Permanent is just that- they are always showing during playback- actually part of the video stream; selectable subs you can switch on and off , or select a different language - SVCDs can support up to 4 subtitle tracks.
    Generally, I use DVD2SVCD when I need subtitles - it has an option to rip the subtitle stream from the DVD and to add the subs to the video stream; but you can use WinSubMux (in the "Tools" section) to add selectable subs to an existing MPEG2 stream.
    You can find lots of subtitle files here: www.divxsubs.com;
    go to Doom9- http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software.htm and scroll down to "Subtitles" - you can probably find what you need there to convert the subtitle files to the format that WinsubMux uses.
    You can't fool me, I'm a moron!
