Is there any advantage in getting a dual processor motherboard to do the rendering or even transcoding file...???
I have an athlon xp 1500+ and it took about 8hrs to transcode a movie to make the file smaller and when Iam rendering my home movie it take forever to render 15 mins clip of avi file to mpeg...
thanks

I wrote alot but it got deleted so here's the short answer.
get an athlon xp 2800+ for 35% to 45% time saving while encoding on your current rig. just pop a cpu out and pop a cpu in, simple. a single 2000 mhz is faster than two 1000 mhz duals. some might say that a dual allows you to do other things while encoding. this is true, BUT- anything else your cpu is doing is taking away processing power from your encoding. before i get a dual i would rather just get a second computer just for encoding.
btw, as soon as i find the cheapest xp 2800+ in the next month or two, that's what i'm getting.Where I walk, I walk alone. Where I fight, I fight alone. -
thanks for insight, that's what i was gearing towards in the first place but I want to get more facts.....
thanks now Iam sure just to get a faster cpu....
Again thanks
