Jerky on one TV and smooth on another

A friend of mine was having problems watching VCD's with an APEX player on a big screen TV. The SVCD's would play fine. He went out an bought another DVD player (a Phillips) and the same problem. SVCD's would play great but not VCD's. We moved the players to another TV and both the SVCD's and VCD's played fine. Has anyone ever had this problem? Is it some setting on the big screen? It does not have a s-video connection so he is having to use compoite. The only other connection on the back is for a RF connection. Hope someone can help.

Got it to work. I demuxed and changed the audio to 192kb and 48hz and it played smoothly. Strangest thing I've ever seen.
