  1. Hi all,

I have three AVI files which I have converted using the TMPGENC wizard to PAL-VCD mpeg files.

When I test each of these in DVD Workshop everything is fine - ie Workshop doesn't try and re-encode the mpeg file.

However, if I merge the 3 mpeg files together in TMPGENC and then try and use this larger file, DVD Workshop tries to re-encode the mpeg even though I have checked the box telling it not to re-encode MPEG compliant files.

FYI, I am using the fully patched version of DVD Workshop (1.2) and the latest version of TMPGENC.

Anyone got any ideas on what I am doing wrong in the merge process ??

I think it is possibly because the type of mpeg file created by the wizard is not the same as the default mpeg file created by the merge process.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Adam Brunt

You may have forgotten to specify VCD or XVCD MPEG (and are merging to MPEG System Stream) for the output stream.

Right under the Merge & Cut tab (File -> MPEG Tools) there's a drop down. It's on MPEG-1 System (Automatic) when you open the Merge tab. Switch to either MPEG 1 Video-CD or MPEG 1 Video-CD (non-standard) to get a (X)VCD compliant MPEG stream as output.

Ah, ok. I am sure I tried that after the first 'merge' didn't work BUT I will try again.

    Thanks for the help.
