  2. yeah, been experimenting with that stuff lately...
    Heres what i found...

You first need your WAV file... You can extract that from your AVI file with Virtualdub

Okay, now you have your wave file... You're gonna need a program.(I guess you prolly downloaded that movie from kazaa or something, well, there you will find Sonic Foundry Soft Encode (if he doesn't find this, try searching on DOLBY or SURROUND or 5.1)

Once you've got that, you OPEN your wave file with that proggie, you set your configurations (you're gonna need to experiment with that).
Now, hit the RED DOT that says: ENCODE

Now it's gonna ask you to save as an AC3 File
    The conversion takes a while

Ok, now you've got your AC3 File. I seriously doubt it that you can immediately multiplex that AC3 file with an MPEG... SO, you're gonna need to do this

Close that program you added 5.1 to the WAV with...
    Re-open the program
Open your AC3 File you created
    and now hit SAVE AS
    Save as an WAV file

    Now, you start TMPG
You select the original AVI as video source file
and as AUdio source file, you select the WAV (the last one) you saved

Ps: you can add 5.1 and immediately convert it to WAV(without first saving it as AC3). But i had some bad expiriences with that...

good luck, i hope i helped ya!

Btw, if you can't find that proggie, MAIL ME i'll give it
