  1. Hi,

I was wondering if there was a program that allows you to capture straight to mpg. Does PowerVCR do it?

I'm using VideoWave 3 but I tried using version 5, which is supposed to be able to capture in mpg but it just causes errors.

I'm capturing episodes from Ally McBeal and Alias which I want to put on vcd. VideoWave 3 only captures in avi, which means I have to convert it to mpg, which takes a long time.

Are there any programs that can capture in mpg straight out?

    Thanks for all your help!

I'm using a belkin Video Bus II capture card

go to video waves web site and download update v3.0 to 3.5 i think its a 7mb download, maybe that will help, but i think your card might not support mpeg capture. direrct capture to mpeg in videowave is terrible, its best to cap with mjpg codec and just convert.i have video wave 3 and updated to 3.5,it also has a template for converting to vcd format and it does a good job,i convert all hour and half hour shows i encode with vw3.5,anything longer i use tmpegenc.shows i encode with vw3.5 give me no trouble when playing on my dvd player.get the update and try it and let me know.

  3. Ulead videostudio, PowerVCR, Wincoder (WinDVR) can all capture in real-time mpeg. However, for VCD captures, the quality is not great. If you capture DVD video at bit rates over 5Mb/sec, the software encoder does a pretty good job.
