  1. I borrowed a friend's Cannon GL1 to tape a wedding for a friend's daughter. The Camera was in the 16:9 mode for widescreen Tv and now I have a tape that looks like the wedding of the tall people. The bride and groom don't have wide tv. Is there anyway to convert tape to 4:3 for regular tv. I know that this would probably take a computer and software. I have a friend with a new imac with a superdrive(DVD-R), but I think the only program he has is imovie2. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (with reasonable cost).

Go to here: http://pages.infinit.net/mannyp/imovie.html. Click on "using 16:9 footage". This is exactly what you are looking for.

Personally, I would use DVD studio pro and apple's encoder. Then you could check the 16:9 box, and set up your dvd to display it correctly. Easy.

  3. If you just wanted to burn a VCD/SVCD/CVD with it, TMPGenc will convert it no problem. Just set the input AR to 16:9 and the output AR to fullscreen (keep aspect ratio 2).

    This is the MAC forum!

There is a new plugin for iMovie that allows you to convert 16:9 to 4:3 and back again. It is Virtix 16x9 Converter. Check it out at www.virtix.com.

That is so annoying. I need to start posting about Mac programs in the PC forums. :P

It's an honest mistake, but it can be annoying.
