  1. Does anyone have any documents on how to rip a movie that is over 4.5gb and keep the 5.1 surround sound? Looking for a procedure with what type of software I will require also.

    Thanks Loboman

  4. Baldrick,

How do you keep 5.1 in there? I have tried and been unsuccessful in keeping 5.1 DTS sound. I have no problem ripping to 2 channel.

    Help please..

  6. If the project can't be gotten down below 4.5 gig by stripping unneeded streams and vob id's, and your forced to reencode, you will need a high end authoring program to handle 5.1 ac3. My favorite is DVD maestro. Check out www.doom9.org for many helpfull guides.

  7. This is easy. Just rip the film with Smartripper or dvd decypter into a vob or seperate m2v and ac3 files, theres no need to go converting ac3 to anything else. Just leave it as it is !

  8. AC3 and DTS are different streams. If you have a DVD that requires transcoding and you want to keep the DTS soundtrack, then you will need to use a high-end authoring software that supports DTS. Someone in another thread mentioned that Maestro supports DTS. I would imagine that Scenarist does as well.
