  1. Having used TMPGEnc for some time with no problems I had to reboot my system. Now that ive loaded TMGEnc again im having problems with it

When i select the film to encode it used to automatically fill in the audio section with the same film but now it only does the video and when i select the film for the audio section it tells me that the film is unsupported?????????

Ive read some answer to previous questions where they are told to change the environmental settings - is this what i should do? what order of priority should they all be in? i never had to change the settings when i previously used TMPGEnc so why do i have to know?

    Please help !!!!!!!

  2. Depends on the source of the video.

Is it with a movie that previously worked, or are you trying to make a new movie?

Alot of DivX stuff has different audio codecs - it's not all the same.

The safest solution, is to extract the audio with VirtualDub to a .wav, then add it into the audio slot 'manually' - by browsing for it.

Read the guide on this site for the how-to.

Also, in VDub check the 'file information' - it'll tell you what audio format the movie has. 'unknown' or '5.1 blah' is probably .ac3 or something. If it's ac3, extract to 'blah.wav' then rename to 'blah.ac3' then run headac3he to convert it to a real .wav.

Another bloody step in the whole long process, but that's life

  3. The type of movie is an .avi - the same type as ive done loads and loads of times before - why am i having problems ??????

Before rebooting i could download any film in almost any format and convert it with TMPGEnc with no problems but now all of a sudden major trouble

I could understand (sort of) if this was my first time but its not - i did it before i should be able to do it again bloody bloody computers Grrrrrr

Saying it's an .avi does not change the fact that you might not have the right CODEC to support the audio in that file. Telling me you have an apartment tells me nothing about what your bathroom looks like.

First you need to find out what format the audio is in. Then you need to either extract/convert it to a .wav file or add the appropriate direct show filters so that TMPGenc can read it.

  5. Being blonde and thick can you tell me how do i find out the format for audio??????? As ive never had this problem before ive never had to check out audio formats - all i needed to look for below downloading something was whether it was Divx, Mpeg or avi etc.

Are the older versions of TMPGEnc better than the newer versions?

i cant look until i get home from work but will check out audio format check it out asap. Thanks for helping me - i need it! lol

By the way - my bathrooms blue :P
