Video Studio 6 video too slow.

Hi:

First time in this forum. At least I pass all the trauma regarding ripping, capturing, converting and authoring. Now, I am in editing processes.

I am capturing in ATI AIW 128pro using MPG2 at 480 x 480 29.97fps, 7000b/sec. This capture is almost equal to a Pic Video capture when converting to a SVCD and a lot less demanding for my HD's. I can tell you that when converting to SVCD, the quality of a MPG2 and of a Pic Video capture is almost identical in SVCD format.

The problem comes when trying to edit my captured files. Video Studio 6 is extremely slow when I use the file captured with that bitrate. Impossible to use it. Almost 10 minutes to go from one preview frame to another. With other files captured with low bitrates 4000 or less you can edit with no prob. What's the problem with video Studio and these files?

If I use an Avi file captured in Pic Video it will be a larger file than the MPG2 I actually use. Can VS6 handle that large AVI file? (Since it can not handle the MPG2) file.

Just to note that when I load the same MPG2 file in Video Studio 5 you can edit the video with no prob. However, no audio is detected, so your files comes with no audio and that's another big problem for editing if you want your original audio.

Can anyone help me with this?

Well, it seems that this is not a common problem.

At least anyone has been able to edit a file captured at 29.97fps, 7000b/sec. or more in Ulead Video Studio 6.

Just thought I might offer a suggestion - have you tried the patch for Studio 6?
