Does anyone know if the S-video output on an S-VHS VCR is a constant signal - I.E. - will the signal from a regular VHS tape come through the S-VHS cable?

Yes, when you play a video tape on a S-VHS VCR you will have a signal on the S-video out all the time. It will have the same signal as you will see on the composite output.

yes -- but the video is stored on a reg vhs tape in composite form so you would not get all the benefits of playing it (a reg tape) in a s-vhs machine.
