  1. Hi,

    I have a ASUS K7V MB, with Athlon 700.

In the last weeks my CPU Fan became quite noisy and slow.. mainly because it was quite dirty (and old).

    Yesterday it stopped altogether!!!

So, today I bought a replacement fan, installed it etc.. but it's acting as though it were completly dead. Not spinning at all. Nothing.

I can smell that the PC is getting hot.. I'm sure that'll fry soon

there's 3 different power sockets on my board... cpu_fan, f_fan and pwr fan. I tried them all - cpu_fan as the main one... but no luck!!

Any ideas? without a clipon CPU fan working.. I'm screwed! My pc will die.. right?!

And if I get the fan tested elsewhere... and my MB pins are not working.. how can I fix this?

    THANKS!

  2. Does you mobo have only one cpu fan socket? Are you sure you get the right replacement fan? You might consider exchange for a new fan, better yet buy a whole set of Fan and Heatsink to match your CPU socket.

I think it might be something to do with "fan" itself not the socket on mobo. If you can't do anything more I'd recommend to buy a power adaptor cable to plug into same power cable to your hdd and cd-rom. Do not turn on your computer without CPU fan unless you wanna buy a new comp.
