Whilst doing my first capture tonight I ran into the "maximum file" etc message on Premier 6.01 Reading the posts I realise that my problem may be solved by converting my FAT32 drive to an NTFS one. Before I do that though I want to make sure I'm not going to lose anything because...
I have a Fat32 40gig HDD that is on a Dual boot (98 & XP). The 98 drive I use mostly for burning as XP didn't want to play ball. I also have a separate Fat32 120gig HDD which I was using for video. Now, can I convert just the 120gig HDD to NTFS (and would that solve my problem)? or do I have to convert both drives (and would that affect the dual boot)?
thanks in advance

as long as you dont use the 120 gig drive in win98 you can convert just that drive to ntfs.
IF you need to have access to the 120 gig drive from 98 you can get ntfs drivers for 98 ... i dont recomend that though ...
use default ntfs sector size or defrag will not work .. (the built in one) -- seems a bug in win nt os's .. -
Thanks for the info. Just to clarify...
So, if I convert the 120gig HDD to NTFS and put all of my video software programs over onto XP (most are on the 98 partition) I should be OK?
Many thanks -
there are also programs that will allow windows98 to read NTFS. I can't say if it will be fast enough to capture, but will give you access to the drives.
