Hi, I just started ripping dvd and read almost all of the forum. I used the tutorial from blackout with ifoedit. My question is, ifoedit does not create VIDEO_TS.vob file and it looks like I need this file to play on my dvd player. I have created a test movie from an mpeg file using DVDit to create a folder and that program creates the file. The movie works fine on my player. The thing is that DVDit does not create a folder from .VOB files (unless somebody knows how to).
Does anyone knows how to generate this file?

VIDEO_TS.VOB is not a required file. You should only need a VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP.
Can you better explain what you have done so far and what you are trying to accomplish? -
all i know is that you should end up with 2 folders for burning
one is AUDIO_TS and the other is VIDEO_TS, now in the audio folder
there is nothing but in the video folder should be .IFO, .BUP and
the main video files .VOB. -
Ok, I made two folders with two different movies. One from an original dvd and the other from a mpeg file I downloaded. I used DVDit to create the folder for the mpeg movie and I used the tutorial from blackout to make the other folder. I used DVDit to burn my dvdrs. The movie I created from the mpeg file plays on my DVD player but the movie from the original does not. Both movies play in my computer with PowerDVD. The only difference between the two folders is that the MPEG movie contains VIDEO_TS.VOB and the one from the original does not so I think my DVD player needs that file to recognize the dvd.

The DVD standard does NOT require a VIDEO_TS.VOB file. None of my DVD's have a VIDEO_TS.VOB and they play just fine. You must have forgotten a step (like "Get VTS Sectors") when using IFOEDIT to create the 2nd DVD.
Are you using blackout's tutorial (which doesn't use IFOEDIT) or are you using my tutorial on IFOEDIT (in the same blackout thread)?
Please list all of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD that won't play. Also, make sure that the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders are capitalized. -
I used your tutorial within blackout tutorial when I used IFOEDIT. The files in the VIDEO_TS are
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
As far as capitalization, I renamed all the files within windows explorer using caps lock but they go to lower case automatically. Is there anyway to keep them uppercase in windows explorer or that's fine?. -
Those files are the ones you need. Now just make sure that all the files and folders are capitalized, and that you load VIDEO_TS.IFO into IFOEDIT and click "Get VTS Sectors" before you do the burn.

Hi enemy within. Do you know what is the file VIDEO_TS.vob. I just went to my friend's house and both cds play there with no problem. I want to see if I can generate VIDEO_TS.VOB to see if it works in my dvd. Like I mentioned before, the movie with the VIDEO_TS.VOB plays with no problems.
Thanks -
The VIDEO_TS.VOB file is generally some copyright screens added by the production company. You can use ANY VIDEO_TS.VOB file off of any disc and it will work. It's just a thing about compatability with some players. Some set-tops are picky and require everything to be "by the book" DVD standards. So copy the VIDEO_TS.VOB file from the one that works and do a get VTS sectors in ifoedit and it should work for ya.
