SVCD problem

Hi there I've been following the guide to copy dvd to vcd and svcd using Smartripper/DVD2AVI/TMPGenc/Nero. Vcd's play fine, Svcd's wont play at all. I have a Sony s505d player (HK version of s715).
Is it a limitation of the player?
Would appreciate any help.

CHECK HERE TO SEE IF YOU PLAYER IS COMPATIBLE FOR SVCD'S

if its not listed, replace your player to one which IS LISTED.
pure and simple.

Try playing the SVCD on someone else's player. That way you will know for certain whether it is the disc or the player. 8)
