  1. I ripped a dvd onto my hardrive using smart ripper and created a project file (.d2v) with DVD2AVI and created a MPEG2 file using the DVD-NTSC template in TMPGEnc. The resulting file came out great but not quite original DVD quality (most noticeably in full-screen mode). Is there a way (program, option, changed value, etc..) i can create a 100% DVD quality video?

  2. i use CCE and though i haven't used it very many times yet (i'm still pretty new at this) it usually results in very good quality. it's very hard to distinguish between the original (not always impossible, but still very good quality nonetheless). if you can get a copy of CCE, why don't you try it out, as it's also faster at encoding than TMPG.

If you want DVD quality, just demux the video off the dvd and re-author. That's the only way to keep the quality. Conversion will decrease the quality more or less.

I thy to use the d2v method (instead of the m2v rempeg method) because I used to do dvd to vcd, now I have a dvd burner, and when I burn the resulting dvd (i use the dvd template in tmpgenc) and author with ulead dvd moviefactory the dvd audio is out of synch and the video is very subtly choppy.

what gives, I made a ton of great vcds?

  7. If you re-encode at 720x480 with a bitrate of 9000, it should be as close as you can get. What, the filesize is too big? Then I guess some level of compromise will have to be reached.

You may use smartripper, that has a demux option at the stream processing tab.
