I have been making rips to dvd-r made by "smartdisk"

they came out good, at about $2.40 each. I am wondering if there are any other brands that I could by even cheaper if I was willing to buy bulk (smartdisk is only 5 packs)

I would like to buy 50 or 100 at a lower price, but I need them to work in my Panasonic DVD-RV27 and my Apex 1500.

    Anyone?

  7. Has anyone tried the Khypermedia DVD-Rs that OfficeMax has on sale for $9.99/5pack (in store only)?

My local OM is out of stock and the website lists the disks for $14.99 (w/ $5 MIR). If anyone has tried them, how is the quality, and do they burn at 2x (w/ Pioneer DVR-104).

    Thanks for any info.

I'll let you all know how they are.

learned my f*ing lesson. I burned the first disc, it won't play on either my Panasonic or my Apex. I am trying another method, but I think these suck. I am trying Ritek next...

    mp3superfreak:

I have 10 of them (well 9 blanks now...) and based on my extensive (lol) testing they seem to work with my Daewoo DVG-3000N (although I had some bad mojo during the encode process so the disc is trashed).

It burned fine @ 1x in my 104, and now that I have upgraded the media is recognized as 2x compatible.

For $2 each it would probably be worth a test run...

Regarding the cheap media, I have burnt 5, had one failure and not sure if it was me or not, may have been, I was pushing the machine.

Seem fine to me. Hard to tell on these if the correct side is up or down. Only way I could tell is by putting dvd in tray and reading dvd info in Nero. If it can't read the disk you got it upside down.

The numbers stamped on the inside of the disk are readable from the top of the disk, meaning bottom side of disk is recordable.

I have other dvd's where the opposite is true. All I can say is they work for me and my Pioneer 104 & apex 1500.

I'm using getting the "best out of CCE" guide and usually my movies are ending up right at 2 gigs, so at this point I am getting two movies per dvd.

Have only done the process twice. One with Bandits & Swordfish, one with MI-1 & MI-2. Not because they were such great films, but because they had lots of action sequence and I figured if low bitrate pixelization was going to occur, it would occur on these. It didn't.

Sorry if your having trouble with this media. Try the flipping over. I only say this because it's what I did at first.

i'll try that, thanks, but I don't want to be misunderstood, I never took your post to be a recommendation, I mis-stated that. I assume full responsibility for anything I choose to buy.
