  1. My RCA refuses to play every cdr that i've tried and it doesn't like certain CDRWs that i've tried, when making VCDs. Does anyone know a reliable CDR or CDRW that I could use? And also if anyone knows a region hack that could be of great use, i think my model number is 4224P (or something along the lines). Thanx everyone I appreciate it!

  2. I've tried many discs with my RCA and the only ones that have worked are silver with a blue bottom. I had some of these that I got through Radio Shack, but I had no idea what brand they were. Unfortunately, none of the discs you find in stores tell you what color they are, so I found a place online through pricewatch.com that was selling silver/blue generic discs. I ordered them, and lo and behold, they work perfectly with the RCA! You can get them from http://www.yesbuy.net, they are $17.00 + shipping for a cake of 100 of them.

The other thing to note is that my RCA will only play 100% VCD 2.0 compliant discs, any little change and the disc will not work. No SVCD, either, but VCD is better than nothing! I just got a Pioneer DV-C603 (literally, it was just delivered to my office today...can't wait to get home!) which should be able to use any disc, but I'll continue to buy the blue ones from yesbuy since my dad, sister, and best friend all have the same RCA player I have.

    Hope that helps you!
