This is my first post, bear with me.

I have successfully backed up DVD's to VCD's for a few months now, but I recently purchased a DVD burner (HP200i).

My primary concern is quality of video and audio. I am patient, and can let my desktop PC run unattended as long as necessary.

I have no problem ripping DVD's to VOB's on my hard drive. My confusion is where I take these VOB's and get them onto my new DVD.

I assume that I need to convert VOB's to some intermediary format, then back to something else before burning.

Where am I missing this step in the guides I've scanned etc?

    Thanks in advance.
