Some people say that 16:9 Display will look stretched and full-screen when viewed on a 4:3 T.V? Is this true? I have a APEX AD-1500.

16:9 looks fine on a 4:3 TV as long as you keep the aspect ratio. If u try to change it to 4:3 thats when it looks all stretched. Obviously if u keep the aspect ratio there will be bars top and bottom.

  3. Have you heard the term "letterboxed" before. That is what 16:9 is when played on a 4:3 TV set.

  5. It depends on the player. For DVD playback every player will automatically add the black bars to maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio. For (S)VCD playback that isn't the case. Most player won't add the black bars so everything will look stretched. Other players will not distort the image but just zoom in the middle and cut off the left and right sides of the picture. If you are thinking about using 16:9 aspect ratio for (S)VCD I suggest you make a sample CD and see how it displays on your player.
