  1. Yikes! my brand new Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop does not recognize my homemade VCDs (MPEGS encode with TMPGEnc and burned with Nero) which play fine on my 2 y old Dell desktop and standalone DVD player. It came with a DVD player (plays regular DVDs just fine) and Win DVD and another DVD program called Interplay something which is what is activated when a DVD is inserted. When I insert a VCD a window appears asking me if I want to use WinDVD, Interplay or Windows Media Player but when I click yes nothing happens. Should I install the version of Win DVD that works with my desktop? Is it the DVD drive. Are some incompatible with VCDs? I'm stumped.

I don't have an answer, but I am trying to burn VCDs on my new Dell Inspiron 8200. It appears to burn correctly with Roxio Easy CD Creator, but the Win DVD program doesnot play it. Occasionally it will play a single clip and starts in the middle. These VCDs will not play on my DVD player either. Any ideas? p.s. They seemed to work on the new RealPlayer.
