  1. Ok, this is the Newbie board, so if this is a no-brainer, please excuse...

I have noticed that when I capture DV, it is always at a 720x480 resolution. Knowing the different resolutions of the possible final files (VCD,SVCD, DVD), is there any way to burn a disc out that will play in my DVD player that is at the full 720x480? Or is this resolution limited to PC playback?

    Thanks in advance.

nope, not if you still want it to be a standard vcd or svcd. you could use a resolution like that, but then your vcd or svcd would then be considered xvcd and its then up to the player if it will play.

You might want to consider svcd, One reason is that you can preserve the interlace nature of your dv file. Since svcd is 480x480, the vertical resolution is preserved. Unforunantly, the horizontal resolution will not, but i believe you will be surprised at the quality of the svcd (as long as you don't deinterlace that is)
