  1. Is it possible to make a vcd file out of a .ram file?

  2. Not really, once it is in Real format, its real forever. A few little programs have claimed to be able to convert it to AVI, but none gave frame rates over 15fps.

  3. Well, generally no. Those programs that convert usually don't convert anything encoded after version 5. That is when real player completely revamped their codec. I haven't tested this but this might be possible... If you have a video out on your video card, a sound blaster platinum or audigy series, and a video capture card, it is possible. Now if the *.ra file has copyright protection I don't know what to say, but if it doesn't here is what you can do: Connect your video out and your video capture together. play the movie and record into your favorite format (preferably raw). Now if you have the later sound blaster sound cards you can record "What U hear" then you just follow one of the guides on the site to convert and everything. I think it might depend but if your sound card came bundled with wave studio, take your new wav file and convert it to cd quality stereo. Ra files usually are crappy rates mono. So this will help improve the sound. Hope this info helps.

  4. Sorry, but I just wanted to add one little thing. Ram files are the same as asf. They are more like a link, they don't actually contain the real file, you can even open them in notepad to see where it goes to get the actual movie. Then put the address into your favorite downloading program.
