Add Subs(Le Pacte Des Loups aka Brotherhood Of The Wolf)

Would someone who has succesfully added Le Pacte Des Loups.English.1of2.subs to Le Pacte Des Loups aka Brotherhood Of The Wolf (2001).1of2.French.avi please post a description of how-which program for conversion to vcd.
I've tried virtualdub txtsub and subtitler filters to frame serve but TMPG rejects the .vdr.
The sub is a txt sub, I don't know from exactly which program. The avi and subs are PAL.
I've converted the subs to srt, ssa, no luck.
Hope someone can help.

You can try (if you have enough space on your hard drive) the "save as AVI" feature of virtualDub, then load the avi into TMPEGenc.
I used VirtualDub to resize and add subtitles, then frameserved to CCE , and had no problem.
