I had ordered this dvd player from ebay and it is supposed to be Macrovision free and Region free when I got it, it was none of the above. After doing some reading I read that the firmare is supposed to be upgraded to do the macrovision, so how do I know if the person i got the dvd player from actually did the firmware upgrade? is there a display button or something that will tell me? if the firmware hasnt been upgraded should i do it myself or actually go through all the trouble of sending it back to the person? Thanx for anyhelp at all. oh yeah i almost forgot it dosnent play dvd-r's.

Following his instructions and burn to a CD-R or CD-RW
If you want DVD-R's to play on it after you hack it with the 5800 bios then you must do it again with using the 5700 bios.
Go to this site to find out more about the 5800
